Make Craft Your Business SUPERSTAR Interviews

You know we love our Make Craft Your Business stallholders right ?

Well, we have another SUPERSTAR interview for you. The bubbly and colourful and talented Jacinta......

Jacinta with her partner in CRAFT, Liz.

1. Tell us a little about your craft ?

Well, Just Jacinta Designs has aspirations to  make and create every awesome thing in the world!!! But just right now I make the following:

- String art
- Cushions
- Signature books – for 21st’s 18th’s etc
- Glitter name plaques
- Scrabble word wall art
- Earring stands
- pretty much everything and  anything that is bright & happy!!

2. What is your business name and how did it come about ?

For as long as I can remember whenever I made something or painted something (and of course I had to show it off to mum and dad!)  Dad would always say: have you signed it with: Just Jacinta???

I used to think it was a little odd but I signed a few things as Just  Jacinta. Now that I think about it‘s pretty cool that I can use it as my name for a business that provides me with so much joy – just as my childhood of crafting did.

3. How did you find out about Make Craft Your Business ?

I was talking to a local lady who had done the mosaics course at the house and then she gave me a brochure on all the courses  ran by TWNH and when I saw the MYCB course I nearly fell over – it was perfect!!

Just what I needed to get the information and support I needed to commit myself and really jump in!!

4. How did MCYB help you and your business ?

It was the biggest boost and got me motivated and inspired! It gave me confidence to sign up for my first stall for  one as well as set up a website, facebook page and  just commit to my passion.

5. What’s the best thing you learnt from MCYB ?

I got to meet all these amazing women who I can relate to and we share a passion and excitement for
all these awesome crafts. It really just inspires you and makes you feel like anything is possible!!

There is so much support!! – also pricing because I had no idea!!!

6. How was your first market stall?

My first market stall was – scary to be honest.

I was super nervous and stressed out (not much sleep the night before!!). After a while I relaxed a little and when I had a few customers it was just like I was in my element – smiling, talking, laughing and really connecting with people – including other stallholders!!

7. How did MCYB help you prepare for your stall at Made ‘n Thornbury Craft Market ?

There were so many amazing hints and advice from the other women who came and spoke to us. All the websites and links and just all the helpful hints that come up in the group chit chats!!

Thanks Jacinta for stopping by with your infectious enthusiasm.

You can see Jacinta at the next Made 'n Thornbury Craft Market and stop by her Facebook page and website

Make Craft Your Business SUPERSTAR Interviews

We're quite proud of our Make Craft Your Business Course and very proud of the beautiful crafters that take part in the course.

We've asked some of our recent participants to share their craft story with us.......

Jacinta and Liz supporting each other at Made 'n Thornbury Craft Market

1. Tell us a little about your craft ?

I make greetings cards using my own designs created on my iPad.  I use several apps to paint pictures and manipulate images.  It's a great way to be creative.  I used to dabble with traditional painting and drawing but this way is less messy.  It requires just as much artistic endeavour.

2. What is your business name and how did it come about ?

Lizandbobdesigns.  I'm Liz and Bob is my scruffy little terrier.  He is in the logo and is the model for one of the cards, but I do most of the work.  It came about when I was put on the spot about my business name and it was the first name that came to mind. I like it though.

Just one of the beautiful card designs created by Liz

3. How did you find out about Make Craft Your Business ?

I am local, and have been a fan of  TWNH for many years.  I have always been a shopper at the Made n
Thornbury market.  I found out about the course as it was advertised online along with market publicity.

4. How did MCYB help you and your business ?

It has helped me focus, and shown me that I really can turn my hobby into a business.  The course has given me a lot of need-to-know information as well as genuine encouragement from the presenters and the other participants.

5.What’s the best thing you learnt from MCYB ?

It has informed me about a great range of resources that exist to help me even after the course finishes. Dee and the presenters were very generous with their knowledge and experience, and you know it's all good advice as they run their own businesses too.

6. How was your first market stall?

I was surprisingly nervous!  Luckily I found out that others feel the same. It really is a challenge to put your creations on sale for the first time.   I really enjoyed it though, and sold a satisfying number of cards.  I also found other stallholders friendly and helpful. It is a market with a good vibe, perfect for beginners.

7. How did MCYB help you prepare for your stall at Made ‘n Thornbury Craft Market ?

For me, the actual display of the market stall was a challenge, so the session on that really helped. It was useful to look at some good examples.  And the checklist of what to bring/do on the day  was excellent.

Thanks Liz for stopping by and being our MCYB Superstar this week.

Visit Liz at a market, online and on facebook.

We are only days away from our very first SUNDAY Spring Fling market.

We have a stall full of beautiful stallholders who will have stalls laden with beautiful handmade goods.
Just for you.

We have a great mix of returning, new and even some debut stallholders.

Of course, we are indoors, so rain, hail or shine
(and with Melbourne this week, possibly all three)
we will be cosy, warm and dry indoors.

And our favourite regulars and fine purveyors of food and drink will be there also.

Here's a sneak peek,
a mere teaser if you will,
of what our stallholders have in stall for you.

Made 'n Thornbury Craft Market July 28th

On Thursday I started stressing.
As the clouds rolled in and the rain pelted down, I continued to stress.

Saturday morning was a cold and wet day.

Did it stop our stallholders and shoppers ?
Not at all.

The weather might not have been good, but the market was FANTASTIC.

I am constantly amazed at the talent of our stallholders.
The generosity of family and friends.
And the appreciation of handmade shown by our local community.

Now, to the fun part.....photos from the day :
