GET ready for delicious cupcakes, hand-made clothing and crafty knick knacks. And it’s all local.
The Made N Thornbury market is back this month, with a variety of local stallholders showing their wares.
Reservoir’s Cathie Avraam is making cupcakes, frittatas and tarts as just some of the culinary delights she will be sell on the day.
Ms Avraam said the market has a fantastic atmosphere, which acts as a little community hub. “You get to see a lot of the stallholders on the day and the customers are really nice and enjoy being there,” she said. “I take my little one and she hangs out at the kids’ craft table, so parents can have a look around.”
Thornbury Women’s Neighbourhood House co-ordinator Justine Sless said the quarterly market has proved so popular that many stallholders have been on a wait list since last May. “The emphasis is on supporting women in micro business - the market stall costs $10 and is kept at a low fee to support new and emerging crafts people and people who make food locally,” she said.
The market holds about 30 stalls and aims to rotate stalls.
