It's market week ! The final Made 'n Thornbury for 2014.

Now, if you are like me, you have been to the big shopping centres and they are not fun this time of year. A much better plan, and sure way to not go silly this silly season is to do all your Christmas shopping with a glass of wine in hand and shop local at the market.

To make your shopping even easier, we have put together a shopping guide for you. Everyone on your list is covered.....

Of course, there are even more talented stallholders and many more beautiful handmade gifts that you can buy at Made 'n Thornbury. There really is something for everyone.

How to not go silly during the silly season.....part 1.

It is now less than a month til Christmas ! Can anyone else believe how fast this year has gone ?

So, the silly season is definitely upon us......but fear not, we have a few tricks up our sleeves and we are sharing them with you.

Welcome to the Made 'n Thornbury, "how to not go silly during the silly season" posts.

First up, let me pour you a well deserved glass of wine.......

Now, have you been to the shops lately - already crazy !  Might we suggest you do as much shopping away from shopping centres as possible.....

This includes your festive wine..... Yes, TWNH is selling delicious Yarra Valley wine at a great price AND you can order online and then collect from TWNH at 131 Shaftesbury Parade. Couldn't be easier. The wine sales are also raising funds for our programs and projects next year, so really, it's guilt free wine.

What could be better for your Christmas, New Year and summer parties and entertaining ?

We're quite partial to the Sauvignon Blanc......

In addition to cases of wine, we'll be selling  WINE BY THE GLASS at our Christmas market on Saturday December 13th. With extended hours, from 10am - 4pm.
Again, avoid the shops, support your local makers, have a glass of wine and enjoy the market.

Project Tableway - Northern Regards Artisan Market

Firstly, is everyone ok after that big storm ?? Good day to stay indoors in craft I think !

So, Friday night was the TWNH Annual Women's Dinner.
A chance to gather with colleagues, friends, neighbours and like minded women to celebrate TWNH and "Real Women, Real Role Models."

We returned to our roots at the humble Leinster Grove hall, home of Made 'n Thornbury Craft Market. And what better way to decorate the hall and make the evening extra special than to invite our clever crafters to decorate the tables. Each in their own individual style, creativity and talents.

The hall looked amazing ! So proud of our clever stallholders. All real women and all wonderful.

The level of detail and creativity was extraordinary.

Rather than have you miss out on the fun, we'll be sharing each clever crafter's tables with you here on the blog, in a series we like to call, Project Tableway !

First up on the tableway......is our 'sister' market, Northern Regards Artisan Market.

Staying true to their sustainable handmade ethos, Northern Regards brought some clever upcycling to the tables......

Damaged records and cds, well past their playing days became Northern Regards Artisan Market placemats and coasters. While candle holders and vases were created from craftbeer bottles that had served their purpose and now upcyled.

Northern Regards is all about handmade and upcycling, being Melbourne's only market that focuses on local sustainable handmade. Proud to be entering their second Christmas season, the market takes place at the iconic Northcote Social Club on the first Saturday of every month.

This month, they are celebrating Spring Racing Carnival.....without the horses, but with the cake, champagne and fabcy headwear.

Wear your best handmade or upcycled hat or fascinator to the market THIS SATURDAY and with every purchase from the market you'll receive a free glass of bubbles ! That's sure to make the Christmas shopping a lot more pleasant !

And that was our Twilight Market.......

Wow !
Just wow !
What an amazing twilight market we had last Friday......

The sun was shining, the sausages were sizzling, children were being creative, the wine was flowing and shoppers happily shopping.

There were  picnics being held in the park next to the hall. 

It was fantastic to see so many of our recent Make Craft Your Business participants debuting their wares at Made 'n Thornbury.

Being a warm night, the Picket Fence Pops delicious fruit icy poles were a huge hit and SOLD OUT in just TWO HOURS. Never fear, they'll be back on December 13th.

As will we, with more talented stallholders, handmade Christmas gifts, raffle, sausage sizzle and activities for young and old.

A BIG thank you goes to :

TWNH staff and management for your ongoing support and the great sausage sizzle that raised much needed funds for TWNH.

The sun shines on an August market day......

Well, we finally broke our record ! For the first time in a LONG time there was not a single drop of rain on market day. Instead we were treated to warm sunshine and clear blue skies. ALL DAY.

And what a great day it was.

The hall was full of talented stallholders, our TWNH Creative Quilting group held their annual exhibition, and we held a great raffle and sausage sizzle to raise funds for TWNH.

A big thankyou to our volunteers, stallholders, childcare staff and most importantly our local community for supporting our market day.

Make Craft Your Business : One Day Workshop

Our Make Craft Your Business course continues to be very popular. 

However, like many of us, local crafters are busy, busy, busy ! 

Which is why we're very happy to bring you a ONE DAY Make Craft Your Business course. 

This intensive course will cover many of the topics that our six week course covers. 

Led by successful local crafters, you will learn business, creative and social media skills 

to help you take the leap from hobby to creative business.

The workshop will run on Tuesday August 26th from 10am - 5.30pm at 99 Leinster Grove Thornbury. Total cost of workshop is :  $75.00 per participant.

The weather has definitely turned chilly and winter is upon us.
